the price of gas

Isaac had a rough weekend. I think it all started with the slightly spicy gourmet pizza we ate on Friday night. As I was eating it, I wondered if it might upset the little guy's belly.
He had quite the rumbly tummy for a couple of days but seems to be in better spirits this morning. I'm crossing my fingers that the storm has passed.

Here are some photos taken on Sunday evening. Carl stuffed a very grumpy, strung-out Isaac into the sling and took him outside for some fresh air. Fresh air does wonders for this guy.

Isaac looks much more alert and cheerful today, hooray.
I love the hat. He very much resembles Russell from the Cosby Kids cartoon, don't ya think?

this boy

This boy is three months old today and weighs a little over 12 pounds. He's no longer taking sodium supplements. For a week and a half he's been keeping a normal level all by himself.

He is working on holding his head up.

He's also working on being the cutest boy on earth... doesn't have to work too hard on that one.

This boy likes to grab things in his meaty paws.

He also likes to nap, nap, nap.

This boy is the love of my life... along with his dad.

first Father's Day

Father's Day was extra special this year for a couple of reasons. It was our first with Isaac and Carl's mom and dad joined us for a long weekend. They were with us for three days and four nights. Mysteriously, there are no pictures of Grandma Banner from the weekend, but I assure you she was here and I quite enjoyed her company.

Here is a very sweet picture of Grandpa Banner and Isaac. I am struck by how handsome the Banner guys are.

Here Carl waves around the wooden spatulas he received for Father's Day. Carl is really quite a good cook. I try to encourage him in his quest to make yummy meals by giving him tools of the trade.

Carl and Isaac reading his card.

The next two pictures have little to do with Father's Day, but they're kind of cute.
Carl felt Isaac looked like a little Jedi Knight with the blanket like this, kind of like Yoda.

Here's the big guy in his car seat. We like to call it his roller coaster seat due to the fancy harness.

That's it for now. Hope all the dads we know had happy Father's Days!

two camps

Carl spent last week at camp, five days and four nights.
Isaac and I spent the week at home. My dad and sister joined us and together we had our own version of camp. The thing I loved most about the week was watching my sister fall in love with my son and watching my son fall in love with my sister. They couldn't get enough of each other. Here's a glimpse of our time together.

Isaac and Grandpa Bob

This may be when Isaac began falling in love with my sister, food will do that to him.

She also read to him (this is a great book by the way).

They spent hours on the floor, talking and looking at the ceiling fan.

The day before she left they were both feeling a little bit sad.

But I'm hopeful we'll all be together again soon.

our moment is now...

Early yesterday there was a lot of speculation that we might finally have a Democratic nominee for the fall election. Even though it seemed likely, Isaac was still feeling a bit cautious.

It wasn't until the numbers came in and speeches were given that Isaac really started to celebrate.

After a few smiles Isaac drifted into a peaceful sleep.

I think he was dreaming about being tapped for VP.
